- *1 For customers whose billing cycle ends on the last day of the month, the new universal service charge (¥5.25) applies from the billing month of January 2012. For customers whose billing cycle ends on the 10th or 20th of the month, the new rate applies from the billing month of February 2012.
- *2 For prepaid recharges, the new universal charge (¥16) applies from January 11, 2012.
Universal Service System is a system that requires all telephone companies take appropriate responsibility for managing the expenses of maintaining an environment that allows any household in Japan to have equal and stable usage of the universal services (landline telephones, public telephones, emergency calls and other telephone services essential to society) provided by NTT East/West.

Universal Service Charge
- SoftBank Mobile Numbers beginning with 090 or 080 will be charged.
- Because obligatory fees per line covered by telephone companies are to be reviewed semiannually by Telecommunications Carriers Association, the amount each customer pays may change accordingly.
