1. Set your PIN code on the USIM card
How to Set Your PIN
On your SoftBank 3G handset
MENU → Settings → Security → PIN Setting
PIN code settings may differ depending on model. For details, please see User's Guide.
2. Preset your S! Mail (MMS) reception settings
How to Change S! Mail Reception Settings
On your SoftBank 3G handset
MENU → Mail → Mail Setting → S! Mail Settings → Message Download [Auto (ALL)/Manual]
S! Mail reception settings may differ depending on model. For details, please see User's Guide.
Depending on model, S! Mail (MMS) may be set to “automatic retrieval” of full text as the default setting, making e-mail transmission fees expensive overseas. We recommend that customers set their handsets to "manual retrieval" and only download necessary e-mails depending on usage conditions.
Turn on your SoftBank 3G handset and check connection conditions.
If necessary, change the network mode of your SoftBank 3G handset and manually select a local carrier depending on conditions.
Returning home, set back to 3G Mode.
GSM networks are not available in Japan. Please use Auto mode or W-CDMA (3G) mode.
