About Difficulties Due to the Tohoku Pacific Earthquake

As a result of the Tohoku Pacific Earthquake, conditions that make SoftBank mobile service difficult to use have been occurring in the regions listed below from 2:46 PM on Friday, March 11, 2011.
We are working to resolve the difficulties, and sincerely apologize to SoftBank customers for any inconveniences caused by this situation.

  • Restrictions to some of the voice calls have been implemented from 9:00 AM on Monday, March 14, 2011.
  • All text messages can be used free of charge for one week starting from Friday, March 11, 2011.
  • For the customers in the regions to which the Disaster Relief Act is applicable, measures of assistance will be taken including extension of the period for payment of user fees and partial reduction or remission of the costs of replacement due to breakage or loss.
  • We have launched our Tohoku Pacific Earthquake Donations Project to enable donations to be sent using SoftBank mobile phones.
    All proceeds from digital contents purchases and charity dial services will be contributed to a charity.
  • We provide the SoftBank Disaster Message Board service, and have also begun a Disaster Message Board application enabling use of the service on iPhones.
  • SoftBank Wi-Fi Spot public wireless LAN services have become open to public free of charge. Users of mobile phones and other devices that support wireless LAN connections, including those who are not SoftBank customers, can use the service.
