Online Recharging by Credit Card

You purchase additional call time (recharge) via the Internet. Recharging can only be paid by credit card.

Using Online Recharge

Requirements

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Recommended web browser
    Internet Explorer 5.5 or above Mozilla 1.3 or above
  • User ID and password
    Go to www.softbank.jp to register new user ID and password.
  • Credit card
    We accept Visa, MasterCard, and JCB.
    Compatibility with Payer Authentication Service is required.

Payer Authentication Service

This is a system that only allows password holders to use their credit card to make online purchases. (Subscriber must register in advance for a password on a website of one of the credit card companies partnered with a card issuer) With this system, a credit card cannot be used by third parties, even if they learn the card number and cardholder name. This service is not available in the Tokai area (Pj)

Registering a mobile phone number

You must register the prepaid mobile phone number prior to recharge. Only one telephone number can be registered, and registration is only necessary for the first login.

1. Access "Prepaid Service" from the top page of Online Recharge site.

2. Enter your user ID and password at login screen.

Click "Register New User ID" if you do not have a user ID or password. Read My SoftBank Terms and Conditions.

3. Click "Agree" to accept terms of the agreement.

You must accept the terms to use service.

4. The top page of the Prepaid Online Recharge site appears. Register mobile phone number of the prepaid handset.

"Register Phone" will be the only option available until a mobile phone number has been registered.

5. Click "Register Phone". Enter the prepaid mobile phone number.

6. A PIN code will be sent via SMS (or Sky Mail) to the prepaid mobile phone number that has been registered.

The PIN code is necessary for registration. Since the code is sent via SMS (or Sky Mail), make sure the prepaid mobile phone is on and is in service area.

7. Enter received PIN code.

8. The registration completed screen appears.

All functions can be used after registration is completed.

Online Recharging

1. Click "Go to Online Recharge".

2. Enter your user ID and password at login screen.

The browser automatically returns to login screen ten minutes after login if the computer is left untouched.

  • Registered Phone
    Recharges the registered prepaid handset.
  • Payments
    Shows payment history of prepaid online recharge service.
  • Show Balance
    Shows current balance and expiration date of registered prepaid handset.
  • Preferences
    Allows setting of language and SMS (or Sky Mail) information update service.
  • Unregister Phone
    Deletes registered mobile phone number.
  • Manage Credit Card
    Enables change or cancellation of registered credit card.

3. The top page of the Prepaid Online Recharge site will appear.

Japanese guidance is enabled, notification will be in Japanese. To receive notification in English, select English on the Preferences page.

4. Click "Recharge - Registered phone".

5. Specify amount of recharge.

Choose ¥3,000 or ¥5,000.

6. Select credit card.

Select "registered credit card" or "different credit card". If "different credit card" is selected, the credit card information input screen appears.

7. The recharge confirmation screen appears. Check details and click "Confirm the recharge".

Cancellation and refunds are not possible once recharge is completed. Make sure to check the telephone number and credit card number on the confirmation screen before clicking "Confirm".

An error occurs if credit card is rejected or recharge amount exceeds recharge limits *1.

Notes:
Conditions of recharge are as follows:

  • The registered balance may not exceed ¥60,000.
  • The total amount recharged over the last 24 hours may not exceed ¥5,000.
  • *1 For those customers with ID verification service compatible cards, the password entry screen of the corresponding card company will appear after "Confirm the recharge" is selected. Note that you cannot recharge your card balance without a pre-registration for the service.

8. The recharge completed screen appears after recharge is complete.

Confirmation of recharge will be sent via SMS (or Sky Mail) to the prepaid handset.

Keep the reference number as proof of transaction either by saving the message or writing it down.

  • Confirmation of recharge may be delayed (or not arrive), depending on the mobile phone's capability to receive at time confirmation is sent.
  • View payment history by clicking "Payments" on the top page of the Prepaid Online Recharge site.
