Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service
Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service repair cost is ¥5,250. Alternatively, you may purchase the same model or a model designated by SoftBank Mobile at Backup Service Package subscriber price.
- Destruction/water damage repair is only available for some models. For more details, visit SoftBank Shop or contact SoftBank Customer Support.
- Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service covers handsets only.
- SoftBank Mobile determines if destruction/water damage is covered by Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service. If destruction/water damage is not covered, handset may be returned unrepaired.
- Outer case repair is not covered by Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service. Outer case (including attached circuitry) repairs made during destruction/water damage repairs incur a separate charge (in addition to covered repairs). Total cost is calculated as follows:
Water Damage Repair (¥5,250) + Casing Change (¥3,150) = ¥8,400 - Defective/water-damaged SoftBank handsets are collected at SoftBank Shop.

Loss/Theft Protection Service

You may purchase the same model at Backup Service Package subscribers' only price.
Wide Maintenance Service
Repair service for sudden malfunctions such as buttons not responding
- Wide Maintenance Service does not apply to repairs if the handset is water damaged or totally destroyed.

Repair Service

Service fee is ¥3,150 to repaint or cover scratches, or replace damaged casing.
Model Up-grade Discount
¥3,150 fixed discount is available for an unlimited number of times on handset prices during Point Upgrades.
- If the point upgrade price for a handset is less than the discount rate (fixed at ¥3,150), then the price of the handset will be regarded as the maximum discount limit. Model Upgrade Discount cannot be used together with Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service, or Loss/Theft Protection Service or be applied towards various processing fees.

Complimentary Battery Exchange

Keep using the same handset(s) and subscribe to Backup Service Plan for one year or more and get a complimentary battery for each handset.
- Delivery may be delayed depending on availability. Out-of-stock models released three or more years prior are ineligible. Out-of-stock models released three or more years prior are ineligible.
- Complimentary Battery Exchange requires an application. Please apply within one year after Model Upgrade Discount becomes effective. If you apply after the one year period elapses, you may not be able to receive the battery pack.
- Eligibility limited to most recent handset purchase on file. Handsets acquired from third parties are ineligible.
- Upon application, a battery pack will be sent to the billing address on file. Shipping address may be changed by submitting the appropriate application. Delivery takes approximately one week.
- * Keep using the same handset(s) and subscribe to Backup Service Plan for one year or more and get a complimentary battery for each handset.
How to Apply for Backup Service Package
Applications for Backup Service Package are only possible when purchasing a handset (new contract / additional handset purchase / model change / contract change). However, customers already subscribing to SoftBank After-service or Super Reliable Pack can switch to Backup Service Package at any time.*
- *Other benefits cannot be used at the same time you sign up for Backup Service Package.
How to Apply for Complimentary Battery Exchange
Complimentary Battery Exchange requires an application. There are two ways to apply:
1 By Phone
Dial 157 (toll free) from SoftBank handset. Automatic voice service connects you to our representative, who will take your application. (Business hours 9:00 to 20:00)
- * Corporate customers can request Complimentary Battery Exchange by phone only.
2 At SoftBank Shop
Application will be taken at SoftBank Shop.
Battery pack will be delivered to customer later.
- Applications to Backup Service Package are only possible when purchasing a handset. However, customers already subscribed to SoftBank After-service or Super Reliable Pack can switch to Backup Service Package at any time.
- Other benefits cannot be used at the same time you sign up for Backup Service Package. However, this excludes customers already subscribed to SoftBank After-service or Super Reliable Pack who switch to Backup Service Package.
- *1 Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service and Loss/Theft Protection Service cannot be used within six months after Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service, Loss/Theft Protection Service, SoftBank After-service, or Safety Relay Service of Super Reliable Pack has been used. If water damage, destruction, loss, or theft occurs within six months of using Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service or Loss/Theft Protection Service, you can upgrade your handset at the normal Point Upgrade price. SoftBank Mileage Service points cannot be used towards the Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service and Loss/Theft Protection Service special members' prices or towards the service charge for changing your contract. If you purchase a transfer handset through Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service or Loss/Theft Protection Service, your usage period will be reset and restart from the date of model upgrade (Point Upgrade, change of contract, additional purchase). If your handset is repaired through Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service, your usage period will not be reset. If there is no remaining stock for the model you were using, you can purchase a model specified by SoftBank at a special members' price.
- *2 Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service only applies to handsets. SoftBank will determine if the destruction/water damage applies to Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service. If it is determined that the destruction/water damage is not applicable for repairs covered by Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service, you handset may be returned unrepaired. The outer casing does not apply to repairs covered by Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service. Therefore, if the outer casing (including any attached circuitry) requires repair at the time of destruction/water damage repair, a separate charge will apply (however, Repair Service will also apply at the same time).
- *3 The price is determined by SoftBank for Backup Service Package members.
- *4 If the point upgrade price for a handset is less than the discount rate (fixed at ¥3,150), then the price of the handset will be regarded as the maximum discount limit. Model Up-grade Discount cannot be used together with Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service, or Loss/Theft Protection Service or be applied towards various processing fees.

- Totally destroyed or water damaged SoftBank handsets will be retrieved at SoftBank Shops or retails stores.
- If the customer is found to be in intentional violation of the rules or seriously negligent, service benefits may be withheld.
- Subscription for Backup Service Package is only made per line (phone number).
- Cancellation of Backup Service Package may not be accepted on the same day as sign-up.
- Applications for Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service, Loss/Theft Protection Service, Wide Maintenance Service and Repair Service are accepted only at SoftBank Shops or other shops specified by SoftBank Mobile Corp.
- Some models may not be covered by Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service, Loss/Theft Protection Service, Wide Maintenance Service and Repair service.
- Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service, Loss/Theft Protection Service, Wide Maintenance Service and Repair service are limited only to the handset appearing as the latest purchase on our sales records.
- Customers subscribed to SoftBank After-service or Super Reliable Pack cannot apply for Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service.
- If a handset is replaced using Destruction/Water Damage Protection Service or Loss/Theft Protection Service, the usage of 3G services with the old handset (including all items retrieved by the service location) will be restricted.
- Only family members can claim the Loss/Theft Protection Service on the subscriber's behalf, and it is limited to one handset per day.
- For claiming Loss/Theft Protection Service in the event of loss or theft, you are required to submit the police report of loss or theft.
- This service may not be used if there is any overdue payment.
- When upgrading to a new handset at a SoftBank Shop or other location, please note that you cannot transfer any S! applications, Web data, ringtones or other data from your old handset to the new handset.
- This service is not available for Prepaid Handsets.
- The service content is subject to change without notice.
