- SoftBank must be able to verify identification of a family or group member to add iPhone to existing family discount subscription.
- If a family member's surname is the same but address differs, National Insurance Card bearing the same family discount subscriber address must be presented.
- SoftBank policy may not permit adding some family discount services.

SoftBank Shop staff will activate your iPhone.

There are several ways to import handset files to iPhone. Some methods may require a visit to a SoftBank Shop after completing application.

Standard Warranty is effective for one year from purchase date. Printed register receipt is proof of purchase date, so please keep it in a safe place. For accessories, purchase receipt is proof of warranty.
Connect iTunes 7.7 or later to register iPhone. Create an Apple ID or enter existing one.
Apple ID is required to use many iPhone functions and services.
Note: iTunes 7.7 may appear in Japanese. Follow these steps to change menu language:

Open iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone 3G (a dialog appears for iPhone 3G OS 2.x and earlier versions).
Follow the directions and update to iPhone OS 3.0.
Please note that MMS becomes available after completing the iPhone OS 3.0 update.
How to update to iPhone OS 3.0
Create My SoftBank account to check monthly statement, etc. online. Upon registration,
password is sent to iPhone via SMS.

Random E mail (i) address is generated at purchase and sent via SMS. Follow these steps to customize address: In Home Screen, tap SMS icon. In Text Messages, tap 157. E mail (i) address Login ID and Password appear. Write down and return to Home Screen. Tap Safari to open a browser window. Enter http://mb.softbank.jp/iphone/index.html and then tap Go to open Login page. If this page appears in Japanese, tap English at the bottom of Display for English.
Please note that E mail (i) address may not be customizable on date of registration.
Safari access is restrictable. Parent/guardian may enable this restriction before allowing use by a minor.
- In Home Screen, tap Settings → General → Restrictions → Enable Restrictions
- Set Passcode window appears. Set one and reenter to confirm.
- Restrictable applications appear. For Safari, tap On.
- On changes to Off, and Safari access is restricted.

To limit Internet access on iPhone to a selection of child-appropriate sites, download the free* 「Yahooあんしんねっと(Yahoo! Anshin-net )」 or [Yahoo!きっず(Yahoo!Kids)」 application (Japanese) via App Store. Download may incur packet communications fees depending on download method. See details here.
