Disaster Message Board Service

In times of disaster, you can use the Disaster Message Board on Yahoo! Keitai to post a message to let others know your situation. The posted message can be accessed with a Yahoo! Keitai compatible phone, as well as computers or another carrier's handsets connected to the Internet.

Automatic notification of your message to specified Email addresses is also available.

Messages can also be checked on the Internet from computers or handsets of other carriers'.
Service Availability The message board is activated when a large-scale disaster, such as an earthquake with an intensity of 6 or higher on the seismic scale occurs. When there is no major disaster, you can only specify Email addresses for automatic mail notification.
Menu Structure The link to the Disaster Message Board is located on the top menu of Yahoo! Keitai at all times. In normal times, you can only specify Email addresses for automatic mail notification.
Available Languages Bilingual (Japanese and English)
Services Message Registration Message content: Choose from "I'm fine," "I'm at home," "I'm hurt," and "I'm at the evacuation area" pre-set messages. A message containing up to 100 double-byte or 200 single-byte characters can also be posted.
Max number of messages: 10 per mobile number (after the 10th message, the oldest one will be erased for each new message entered.)
Accessible period: Messages are stored only while the service is activated for each disaster. However, when more than 10 messages per mobile number are entered, the oldest message will be erased for each new message entered.
Applicable Regions Anywhere in Japan (From computers, message confirmation can be accessed also from overseas)
Message Deletion Delete all/Delete selected messages (Anywhere in Japan)
Message Confirmation Compatible terminals Messages can also be checked on the Internet from computers or handsets of other carriers as well as Yahoo! Keitai compatible models.

Note If the number you wish to confirm is not a SoftBank Mobile Number, a URL link to i-mode, KDDI/TU-KA Group's or WILLCOM disaster message board will be shown.
Automatic Mail Notification Number of specified addresses Three (addresses can be specified at any time)
Sender information The mobile number and Email address of the person to whom you posted the message are sent to the specified Email addresses.
Email contents Automatically sends a notification to specified Email addresses after your message is posted along with the URL of the message.
Charges Available free of charge.

Application for S! Basic Pack is required to use the Disaster Message Board Service (¥300 [¥315 incl. tax] monthly charge applies for Yahoo! Keitai).
* Users of SoftBank 6-5, and V8 series please be noted that several URLs have been changed due to waiving packet charges for access to "Disaster Message Board". If you bookmarked "DMB" before February 1, 2006, please delete it and bookmark a new URL again from Yahoo! Keitai Top menu for your future usage. You will be charged per packet for accessing to the initial page unless you rebookmark it.
* Japanese version Disaster Message Board will become also free of charge.
* Accessing to the Disaster Message Board provided by other carriers will be charged per packet.
* For Global Roaming Service, accessing will be charged per packet.
* The initial page accessing from the notification mail will be charged per packet.
Disaster Message Board Trial Service
The Disaster Message Board Service simulation is available on the first of every month (except January 1), during Disaster Prevention Week (August 30 to September 5), and during Disaster Prevention Volunteer Week (January 15 to 21). During these periods, the service is activated to simulate message registration, confirmation, and deletion. Only automatic mail notification address specification is available outside of these periods.

*The Trial Service will not actually send out automatic mail notifications.

Choose "Disaster Message Board" from the Yahoo! Keitai top menu.

Enter up to three Email
Enter up to three
Email addresses to which you want to deliver notification of your message being posted. You can also enter computer Email addresses and Email addresses of other mobile carriers.

Select "Send" to complete the procedure.

*Specifying Email addresses for automatic mail notification is available even when normal times.

How to Post a Message
Follow this procedure using a Yahoo! Keitai compatible handset.
Choose "Disaster Message Board"
Choose "Disaster Message Board" from the Yahoo! Keitai Top menu.

Choose "Register" from the Disaster Message Board top menu.

From the four selections shown, choose the status that describes your current condition. You can also enter a message containing up to 100 double-byte characters.After you have finished composing the message, select "Register."

The message has been posted.
Select "Send" to deliver the automatic mail notifications to the addresses you have specified.

How to Confirm a Message
You can check your message on the Disaster Message Board. It can also be checked from computers or other carriers' handsets.

Enter the SoftBank Mobile Number of a person you want to know the condition of then select "Search."
If you enter the number of other carriers you will be forwarded to that carrier's disaster message board.

*From computers, message confirmation can be accessed also from overseas.

[Note]
If you have the "Refuse mail with URL links" function set to "refuse all" to avoid receiving spam Emails,
all messages with URLs attached will be blocked, including Disaster Message Board Service notifications.
Change the setting to "refuse mails with specified URLs" to receive the service notifications including Emails
(with URLs) delivered by disaster message board services of other carriers.
